Our Town Hall Heritage Evening Lecture with Hankinson Heritage
Manchester Town Hall closed in 2018 for major restoration to repair and upgrade the building to modern standards. The work includes conservation of many original heritage features.
The Heritage Lectures in Central Library shine a light on some of this fascinating work and the next one – on Tuesday 22 September – will focus on the decorative paintwork restorations that have been made inside the building, with a presentation by Phyllis Smith of Hankinson Whittle.
The Hankinson’s Heritage team is made up of highly skilled decorators and artists, who undertake projects of varying scales, encompassing the restorative work that is so important to maintain structural integrity and historical features of older buildings. At Manchester Town Hall they’ve worked on ceilings throughout the main corridors of the ground and first floors as well as the State Rooms.
