Lord of the Flies with Aimee de Jongh

70 years after the publication of William Golding’s story of a group of British schoolboys who descend into savagery after being stranded on a desert island, Aimee de Jongh has created a stunning, first ever graphic novel version of Lord of the Flies. Aimee joins us to discuss her experience of adapting the book, her work as an illustrator and how Golding’s tale has inspired other writers.

Aimee de Jongh is a renowned graphic novelist and animator from the Netherlands. Her debut, The Return of the Honey Buzzard, won the Prix Saint-Michel and was adapted into a live-action film. Her second graphic novel, Days of Sand, was an international bestseller and nominated for two Eisner awards. Hosted by Kate Feld. Presented by Manchester Literature Festival in partnership with Manchester UNESCO City of Literature, Lakes International Comic Arts Festival and New Dutch Writing. Supported by Library Live.
