Author Q&A: ‘The Edinburgh Fringe: The Showbiz Olympics’

This Spring, the Henry Watson Music Library at Central Library welcomes playwright, journalist, and performer Matthew Partridge to talk about his new book ‘The Edinburgh Fringe: The Showbiz Olympics‘.

The Edinburgh Fringe: The Showbiz Olympics is an insider’s guide into the mechanics, triumphs, and chaotic magic of the world’s largest arts festival. Drawing on first-hand experience and interviews with over 100 performers, producers, directors, and critics—as well as around 50 audience members—the book reveals what it really takes to navigate and succeed at the Fringe.

As Matthew discusses his latest work, expect exclusive insights and anecdotes from leading figures in theatre, comedy, and broadcasting, who feature in the book, including:

  • Francesca Moody (Olivier Award-winning producer of Fleabag and Baby Reindeer)
  • Lucy Moss & Toby Marlow (creators of the global smash-hit musical SIX)
  • Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer & Henry Shields (writers of The Play That Goes Wrong)
  • Comedians Arthur Smith and Ahir Shah
  • Critic Kate Copstick and broadcaster Iain Dale
  • A special contribution from Succession star Brian Cox
